About Nekurai

Most of what we buy now is built to be thrown away. It breaks, you price out the repair, and fixing it somehow costs more than buying another one — so the old one hits the trash. That math is everywhere, and it always bugged me.

Nekurai is the pushback. Find the thing everyone gave up on, figure out what's actually wrong with it, fix it, test it, and put it back to work. It started with storage units and old collections, then trade-ins, then stuff pulled straight out of junk piles — and these days we import finds directly from Japan too. A hobby that quietly turned into a side business.

The name's a play on words — necromancy + AI. It comes from my software side, where I build AI into tired, decaying workflows and make them clean, efficient, and fully automated. Same idea here: take something written off as dead and bring it back. One side does it with code, the other with a soldering iron and a little patience.

Favorite rescue so far? A little pyramid-shaped Bandai Pair Match I grabbed in Japan for about twenty bucks. Everyone — me included — figured it was missing its cables and controllers, which is why it was priced to move. But that shape kept pulling my eye, so I took the gamble and brought it home. Turned out it was complete the whole time. It just needed batteries. Works like a charm now, and it lives in my own collection — not for sale.

One nerdy note: we built this whole store ourselves — storefront, inventory tools, and the eBay sync that keeps every listing straight. If it feels a little handmade, it is.
